The European School of Social Innovation is proud to announce a collaboration with the DICES project for a webinar focusing on the Social Economy in Europe.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Across Europe, the social economy takes strikingly different shapes from one country to the next, and mapping that diversity is essential to fully understanding the field. From cooperatives and mutuals to associations and grassroots initiatives, it gathers a broad set of practices that place people and social purpose ahead of profit, quietly reshaping how communities organise care, work, and democratic life. The successes have been visible through new forms of organising, inclusive frameworks, and the emergence of a strong, cross-sector community. Yet what counts as social economy in Austria can look quite different in Bulgaria, Ireland, or Greece, shaped by legal definitions, policy support, cultural traditions, and the people driving it from the ground up.<\/p>\n
In times of new and still unsolved social and political, as well as continuing ecological challenges, a closer understanding of the social economy is more relevant than ever. This is the terrain the DICES project examines across nine European countries, and the forthcoming report Conceptual Framework and Mapping of the Social Economy in Europe<\/em> will provide a detailed comparative view. In the webinar, renown international experts will delve deep into the conceptual framework and the Belgian practice field, provide a detailed overview and facilitate subsequent in-depth discussions with participants from academia and practice.<\/p>\n
The webinar opens with a conceptual framing block, introducing key notions from the forthcoming report: social economy, social inclusion, economic democracy, and care as a bridging concept. The session then moves into the mapping findings, with a dedicated country spotlight on Belgium, illustrating how these concepts play out in a concrete national context. An open Q&A will close the session.<\/p>\n
