Artur Serra

Artur Serra is doctor in Anthropology (University of Barcelona). He has developed his ethnographic fieldwork in the School of Computer Science of Carnegie Mellon University, studying the Artificial Intelligent community, DARPA and the Internet community from 1990 to 1993. Back to the UPC in Barcelona, he founded different centers and labs, like CANET, Center for Internet Applications and the i2cat Foundation in Barcelona. In 2002, he designed Citilab, considered by the EC as an example of Social Innovation. He is Social Innovation responsible at the European Network of Living Labs. Currently, he is conducting Catlabs, a project to generate a model of universal innovation system, connecting the different families of “labs” (living labs, fablabs, telecenters, science shops etc.) with the academic research centers.
