New Article: Europe’s Social Innovation Revolution

For 20 years, Europe has played a pioneering role in promoting Social Innovation. Now that the course for the future will be set with the new programming period, ESSI Chairman Jürgen Howaldt (TU Dortmund University) and Sofia Lai Amândio (ISCTE, University Institute of Lisbon) look back at what has been and what will be needed for the future. In an article for Social Europe, they discuss the successes of European Social Innovation policies to date and the role of Social Innovation in solving current societal challenges beyond market and state solutions. They conclude with a strong statement on the importance of Social Innovation for  Europe and the need for a broad innovation policy that is not limited to technology and economics.
